43 Things
I saw a link on another blog about a simple idea that is kind of neat. 43 things basically just lets you list things you want to do (be they short or long term goals – or just silly things) and then lets everyone see them. You can mark things as complete and see how many other people want to do the same things you want to do. I’m not entirely sure why it’s titled 43 things – but it is kind of fun none-the-less. I signed up and have about 20 things listed so far. I also created a wordpress plugin that will let me show my things on the webpage – you can see some of them listed to the left (bottom of the column).
The plugin is actually a bit more flexible than just showing 43 things. I am also using it to display my del.ic.ious links instead of the old del.ic.ious plugin I had found elsewhere. That old plugin stopped working suddenly as my webhost stopped supporting the php CURL library. This new plugin uses a simple RSS parser called lastRSS and is pretty flexible. I will probably make a real post about it later that details it and helps people figure out how to use it. I based it off of yet another del.ic.ious plugin that used a different RSS parser called magpie. Magpie wasn’t sufficient for the 43 things feed as it is in RSS 2.0 which Magpie doesn’t fully support yet.
Anyway, make sure you check out 43 things. It is fun and cool and, who knows, maybe it will help you stay motivated to finish some of your “things”.
