Holiday Season

Thanksgiving has passed and Christmas is now around the proverbial corner. However, lest we forget, the most important holiday of the season is upon us already – Emily’s Birthday. That’s right she is 3 tomorrow (26th of Nov) and she is very excited about her impending party. She has, with a little guidance from her mother, elected to have a “Dora the Explorer” themed party. Today the cake was picked up from the baker and Emily ran around the house like a banshee she was so excited. Tomorrow her friends (and some of her family) will be here to celebrate.

Thanksgiving was a pretty nice day even though Lisa did way too much work to prepare dinner for the five of us. However, her work was not for naught as we ate a great dinner topped up with both Apple and Chocolate Cream Pie. We had an 18 lb turkey so we may be eating leftovers for a few days. That’s OK though so long as we have some cornbread stuffing left to eat with it!

Joe went out and experienced early-bird black Friday yesterday and in a matter of 45 minutes was pushed, tripped, yelled at, and cussed out by seemingly normal middle aged ladies. He laughed, bought himself a pair of shoes, and went to work after completing his free period of entertainment.

Lisa and Patti went shopping as well and they were gone for a long time. They too went to Kohls (the scene of Joe’s encounters) and they ended up waiting in line for over 2 hours. I call them crazy. Honestly, people aren’t going to stop acting like asses on black Friday so I think the stores should just stop offering all these early bird specials to stop encouraging this crappy behavior. I don’t blame the stores but I do think they have the power to end it.

Emily, today, decided to christen her third year by doing her first ever #2 on the last day of her second year. If you don’t know what doing #2 is I’m not sure how to put it more kindly than Ringo Starr did in the movie “Caveman” when he said, “Ka ka, doo doo, Shhhhhitt!” Needless to say Lisa was suitably excited considering she has been stressing Emily’s reluctance to use the pot before our pending trip to Disney World.

That’s right we are going to Disney World soon. Joe will still be here taking care of the house but the three girls and I will be heading to the magical land of mice to meet up with Ted and his gang for a week of fun in the Florida sun. The temp here is just going to start being nasty so hopefully the weather in Fl will be nice (70′s would be good). Lisa is really, really, really excited about the trip. We are staying at one of the “All-Star” hotels on the Disney properties. The All Star hotels are the lowest priced hotels Disney has. They recently started having “Family Suites’ which are basically two rooms combined into one so we took that deal so the girls could go to sleep and Lisa and I could stay up without disturbing them. Lisa and I went to Disney back in Oct 2001 (after I was there for a conference) and we had a great time. Hopefully it is even better this time around with the girls.

I’ll put up photos up when we get back. Speaking of photos I may be adding a new feature to the site soon if my co-worker Ed is successfully able to combine our two wordpress plugins. You’ll know it when you see it!
