Intelligent Design and Evolution

It seems most of the discussion about Evolution that I see from anti-evolutionists is that if you believe in Evolution you don’t believe in God. It isn’t always directly stated but it is always inferred. This post by a reader at slashdot answers pretty much every question I have heard asked about Evolution. Not only does he explain why Evolution has nothing to do with proving/disproving God’s place in the universe he also answers the “Evolution is only a Theory” argument.

The “only a theory” argument typically says “Evolution is a theory not a fact” because, quite frankly, people who say this don’t understand what they are talking about. The Theory of Gravity is a fact as is the Theory of Evolution. Both have been proven many times with quantifiable evidence. Neither supports a Atheist view of the world – they do however explain in verifiable ways how species change over time and why we don’t all float into outer-space. I strongly suggest you read the slashdot post as he does a much better job of explaining it all than I can.

He also points to some cool supporing articles for Evolution to include a subject titled “Ring Species“. Even if you refuse to believe Evolution occurs the existence of Ring Species are pretty darn interesting and worth a read. I don’t remember my high school biology class discussing “Ring Species” or “Lamarckian inheritance” (discussed in the slashdot story and supposedly disproven via scientific measures). Anyway it’s all an interesting read so I encourage you to check it out.
