I would add “AND comment_approved = ‘1′” to the WHERE clause. Otherwise, anything that’s not approved or that’s spam will be included in the count.

Great! I had already pushed through this problem and done the same thing, though yours is more refined. Our code doesn’t match, but it’s cool to see we were working the same problem the same way.
